tyreese carol lizzie micha & judith on the train tracks to terminus season 4 the walking dead

Walkers growling. Bugs buzzing.

Leaves rustling. Engines running.

Footsteps crunching. Bullets flying.

Conversation.

These familiar sounds have dominated the audio landscape of “The Walking Dead” series until episode 14 titled “The Grove.”

But for the first time since the apocalypse began, we hear music. We hear the gas and its flame on a stove.

The luxury of such modern conveniences stands in stark contrast with the brutality of those struggling to survive, as we revisit Tyreese, Carol, Judith, Lizzie and Mika, and await an explanation for Beth’s whereabouts.

Room with a view

In one of the previews, the camera pans through a kitchen filled with pots and food The low hiss of a flame warms a kettle. Music plays softly in the background.

The camera stops at a dirty window, where a walker is seen chasing someone in what appears to be the backyard of a house.

This scene is disturbing on several levels. We could be watching this chase from someone’s particular point of view, a dispassionate observer content to watch from a safe distance.

Or we could be seeing the story unfold before us.

This voyeurism — ours and the person in the kitchen — makes the scene all the more horrifying and inhuman. Could this woman be Beth? And who is the person watching her?

Walking the line?

In episode 10, we saw Carol’s return and Tyreese tending to Judith, Lizzie and Mika in the woods. They found each other on the railroad tracks and decided to continue to Terminus, a safe haven — supposedly.

The upcoming episode’s previews present a storyline that focuses on this group. As previous episodes suggest, we should expect some character development. Hopefully, the writers will fold into the plot Carol’s admission to Tyreese about the real reason she left the prison.

Tyreese’s reaction to Carol murdering his girlfriend will, no doubt, be intense. But will he be forgiving? Understanding? Will he kill her in a fit of rage that Lizzie and Mika will see?

Carol’s reintroduction into the story could benefit the sisters. Earlier in season 4, she taught Lizza and Mika how to protect themselves and encouraged them to be strong and keep their emotions in check. Carol was not affectionate and loving, but could she tap into those feelings?

As the season approaches its conclusion — likely to be abrupt — these insights into the survivors have added a welcome texture to the plot and have kept me returning for the next episode.

Check back with PennLive after episode 14, which begins at 9 p.m. Sunday on AMC.

Below are three videos, the first focusing on Tyreese and Lizzie, the second from the kitchen and the third with an overview of the episode.

What you guys think will happen in season 5?
I wonder how many seasons they will continue to do, im totally gonna watch it until it ends….

I think it will go up until season 6 or 7, cuz they can’t just keep killing off the main characters for a long time, otherwise there won’t be any left

Carol is not leaving Mika, she’s walking towards the walkers, giving in, so they kill her and the girl has the chance to escape. She died like that on the comic, throwing herself to walkers. Now it’s her turn in the series.

I know she had totally different reasons in the comic, guys. But I think they’re gonna give her the same death.

The house where beth and daryl hold up was a bait. Noticed how it was all clean and stocked up with food? The hunters made it that way to lure people in. Maybe the dog was theirs, maybe they led the walkers over there.

+Goku Saiyayin What Jake said. The Hunters are actually a group of cannibals from the comics who stalk Rick’s group and try to pick them off one by one and eat them.

+lougaming The Hunters hunted Rick’s group because they had nothing else to eat. The house Daryl and Beth were in was full of food! No reason for it to be The Hunters.

There is no Hunters in season 4, people, what a hell is wrong with you?! No Hunters, no Negan and the Saviors. They will appear in the half of season 5 maybe, or even at the end of S5. We got that new character in S4, Gareth, or what his name is, and thats it. His character is based on father Gabriel character.Maybe he is father Gabriel, maybe the Gareth is just cast name.

I think the hunters will have a cameo, because they have been foreshadow like crazy but it would be really stupid if they actally started in season 4

+xGi2lesx I definitely agree with you! The Daryl/Beth episode completely ruined any credibility this season had. I’m so glad that this episode seems to be Carol, Tyreese and the kids. Carol’s group was absent from 3 episodes since episode 10. The same as Rick’s group didn’t appear in 3 episodes. I’m excited to see Carol’s group because of Lizzie. Lizzie’s storyline seems to be the most interesting than the Daryl-Beth crap and the Bob-Sasha crap. She is the most creepy and fascinating character. According to SpoilerTV, this episode is “Brutal”. This episode 14 is written by The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple.

Wow I dunno why I never thought of this! That would kind of make sense. However I think the house was set up to lure people in. I don’t see him taking Beth…if its Gabriel.

People like you who insist that its “dragging” are the type of people who started watching at Season 3 where it turned into non stop zombie killing action. I’m a Walking Dead Fan Boy until death but I still think its annoying how they’re kind of selling out to the public. I understand they want to keep their viewers happy but I feel like only 25% of people who watch the show are true fans who don’t need the unnecessary gore and violence to enjoy it. Not every episode has to be heads getting smashed in.

Exactly. I have really enjoyed the one on one time with the characters. I love they give you a chance to get up close and person and start to understand them and bond. It doesn’t have to be all action packed for me as long as it keeps an interesting story line. The only character centric episode that has bothered me was the one with the governor. Just seemed kind of pointless in my opinion. Oh well I guess it helped show how he got a new group, but eh.

Whoa! Tyreese and Carol’s group is the most interesting one, So I’m excited for the upcoming episode! I’m not ready for this because Andrew Lincoln said in an interview that something happens in this episode. I’m not ready to see if the kids get killed off. Lizzie and Mika are my favorite characters. I’m not still ready!

+Aaron Wells That’s the most scariest creep/innocent children I’ve ever seen on the show. Like it showed Sophia walked out of the barn as a walker, Penny walked toward her dad, the Governor, with the bag over her head. Summer walked down with the teddy bear up, etc. Meghan got bitten by a Mud walker. More scared than adults walkers. They are my two favorite characters Mika is a nice and sweet girl, Lizzie is cool and creepy.

I hope Carol does not die she became such an interesting character and Melissa McBride is the best actress on the show. If a major character does die I hope its a male since so many females died last season(granted they were pretty annoying).
