Multiple casting calls are circulating online but the primary one calls for extras and principal roles in the upcoming Walking Dead series, which is not a spinoff because it won’t include any of the same characters as the main show.

The casting call doesn’t specifically mention the companion series but is believed to be for the series because the main series hasn’t filmed at all, and filming spoilers haven’t indicated any future moves to the state.

The companion series will explore a different group of people who are also caught up in the zombie apocalypse. It’s the same world as The Walking Dead, but different people.

The casting call says that it’s seeking male and female actors ages 13 to 65.

The call is for all ethnicities.

Requirements listed include being professional and not having worked on Walking Dead before.

No actors have been announced for the show yet, but descriptions for six principal characters did emerge earlier this year.

There’s Sean Cabrera, a Latino male in his early 40s; Cody Cabrera, Sean’s teenage son; Nancy Tompkins, a single mom in her 30s; Nick Tompkins, Nancy’s teenage son; Ashley Tompkins, Nancy’s teenage daughter; and Andrea Chapman, a woman in her 40s.

The pilot for the series was ordered by AMC and the series is expected to explore other parts of the United States (the main series has almost fully been in Georgia).

Show creator Robert Kirkman confirmed this week to the Hollywood Reporter that the companion series will help explore things happening in other parts of the world. The lone reference in the main series was the French scientists in the season 1 finale.
